THE RIGHT HARDWOOD CAN MAKE OR BREAK A RENOVATION

Hardwood Flooring is major player in so many different things when it comes to your home rennovation, often making or breaking the entire look of a renovation.
This is why, it is crucial to know what look you are aiming for going into the project, and how everything else in the room will flow with the new floor.

HOW TO CHOOSE A HARDWOOD

When it comes to choosing hardwood flooring for your home renovation there are many things to consider, starting with:

1. WHAT COLOR AM I AIMING FOR?

This is a part which is full of questions and opinions. Are you seeking to go with a lighter, brighter toned wood? Or are you instead seeking the darker, cozer rustic-type look? If you are going for a preference in lighter colors in your room, consider a wood such as Pine or Maple. If you are going for a preference in darker colors in your room? Consider Mahogany or Cherry.

2. HOW LONG DO YOU WANT THE WOOD TO LAST?

The rule of thumb is, "You get what you pay for". So, typically, the more expensive a wood is, such as teak, the longer it will last.

3. ENGINEERED OR SOLID HARDWOOD FLOORING?

This is always something to consider. Engineered flooring, typically is easier to put in, and is less reactive to moisture, but has a more "artificial", feel to it. Solid flooring on the other hand, may not be recommended in places with large amounts of moisture fluctuation, such as your basement, but has a more "solid" feel to it, no pun intended.
