Laminate from Universal Carpet Inc.

At Universal Carpet, we are well-known for providing residential and commercial property owners with many different flooring materials, including laminate flooring. Laminate is a product that is made by layering a slim sheet of decorative material over particleboard or some type of a synthetic base. The decorative layer can have a wide variety of designs, and it can even mimic the look and feel of natural wood, marble, stone, or some other expensive-looking type of flooring. The material is covered with a sealant to prevent it from breaking down.

The benefits of this laminate flooring material are the fact that it is very affordable. In fact, it is one of the most cost-effective flooring options available on the market today. It's also easy to have installed. This means that you don't need to wait around for days or weeks for the installation process to be finished. The material is easy to maintain, as well. This means that a simple sweeping or mopping of the floor will be all that is needed to keep the surface of the floor looking great for years and years in your home or business. This makes it much easier to care for than wooden flooring, which will eventually need to be refinished.

Installing laminate floor

As mentioned above, installing this type of flooring is fairly straightforward and can usually be finished in a few hours to a day. The process will start with the old flooring being torn out. A proper subfloor will be needed for your new laminate, and we will discuss what subflooring options are available to you prior to the installation taking place. Next, we will cut the laminate flooring from a roll and get it installed with a secure adhesive. We will be sure that the seams in the flooring are not obvious and aren't eyesores. All seams will be disguised so that they can't easily be seen with the naked eye.

This type of flooring can be installed practically anywhere in a home or office, and we typically see it being used in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. The material is durable, and with the right kind of maintenance and care, it can continue to look beautiful in your location for many years to come.

Laminate care & maintenance

At Universal Carpet, we sell beautiful and durable laminate flooring to residential and commercial locations. Following the installation of the flooring material, you will need to know how to properly care for the surface to prevent wear and tear, staining, and damage.

Cleaning laminate floors

When cleaning and caring for this kind of material, it is imperative that you make sure that you are cleaning up spills as soon as they happen. This can be done using a cloth or sponge. Whenever you let the spill go, it can "set-in" and eventually cause staining to the surface. It is also important to use the floor cleaners recommended to you when cleaning off built-up dirt and grime from the top surface. Then, you need to allow time for the floor to properly dry after washing it before you set anything back in place, such as tables, chairs, couches, lights, appliances, shelves, etc.

When moving things off of the floor to do cleaning, never scoot the materials across the surface. This can cause scuffs or indentations on the floor that will be very difficult to remove. Instead, it is recommended that you and a partner pick the materials up and walk them off of the floor. It may take you more time this way, but it will also prevent a lot of premature wear and tear on your floor's surface.

There are some things that you should make sure that you never do when caring for your laminate flooring. Never use soap-based detergents when cleaning your floor. This can create a dull film build-up on the surface that can cause your floor to lose its shine. Also, never use any kind of abrasive cleaners or tools when removing stubborn grime from the floor. This can permanently damage the surface and leave you with a very noticeable problem area on the floor. This laminate material should also never be waxed or polished.
